The mission of the Global NITAG Network is to make efficient and evidence-based recommendations on immunisation through global collaboration and cooperation with input from regional networks. WAAT was selected to rebuild the web-based NITAG platform to make the database and digital library more accessible and searchable, as well as making the website more user-friendly and visually appealing.
We began with an in-depth discovery phase with the goal of analysing the old NITAG website and content, and framing the main project requirements. After preparing a content migration plan, WAAT and the WHO joined forces to prepare user stories and discuss individual functionalities of the new web system. The next phase was sketching wireframes, which allowed us to create a digital prototype and test it with the client before the actual web development began. The digital library was equipped with a faceted search, allowing users to narrow down the search results by using specific filters and being able to browse the results with a minimum number of clicks.
Our team followed a Scrum Agile framework for this project, staying in close contact with daily standups and project management tools. During the web development phase, the client was able to test individual functionalities almost on a daily basis thanks to our rapid prototyping approach.
The launch of the new website had a very positive effect on the user experience and increased the access to the NITAG recommendations, training material, and data for all interested stakeholders. To present the country-based database, an interactive map was developed which takes a central position on the homepage. Users now have access to multiple contact points throughout the website, making it easy to get in touch with the Network about specific enquiries.
